Have you ever watched a geyser erupt? For a long time, it looks like nothing is happening. But all of a sudden—whoosh! Scalding hot water gushes up from beneath the Earth’s surface, seemingly out of nowhere.
Anger is like that. It may seem contained, but the pressure underneath eventually reaches a boiling point. It touches everything: your tone, your assumptions, your relationships.
But unlike a geyser, you can actually turn the temperature down on your anger so it stops boiling over. Inviting God to check your heart for unresolved anger prevents it from spilling over and burning everything it touches—protecting the relationships you care about most.
Reflect: Where has anger been shaping your responses or relationships?
Pray: God, search me and show me where anger has taken hold in my heart. I see how it has affected my tone, my thoughts, and the way I treat people. Help me bring it to you instead of letting it build. Teach me to respond with wisdom and self-control so I can live with the peace you offer. Amen.
