The conflict between Jacob and Laban becomes so great that putting distance between them is the only answer. We can see both of them being unreasonable in how they treat each other. They decide to take vows to not harm each other in the future. They ask God to watch over their agreement, because they clearly can鈥檛 trust each other.
In Matthew 18:15-20, Jesus describes a process for how we should deal with those who have wronged us. We are to work hard to try and resolve the problem, but sometimes a resolution can鈥檛 be reached. People who are not connected in the conflict are part of the process, so reasonable voices can be included in the conversation. Is there conflict between you and another person that should be handled as Jesus has described?
