Bible Reading / Names of Jesus in Isaiah

Prince of Peace

ISA.9

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6

One day while Jesus was asleep in a boat with his disciples, a vicious storm came upon them. The disciples believed the storm would bring the death of all of them. When Jesus was awoken, he rose, rebuked the storm, and told the storm to "Quiet, Be Still". The winds, the rains, and the storm subsided at this; peace was restored. This story perfectly showcases Jesus as the Prince of Peace. Jesus brings peace to our lives eternally through his sacrifice on the cross and daily in all matters of life.

Jesus may not prevent life's storms from coming, but he brings our hearts peace in them. He brings peace to our relationships, stresses, and concerns. Jesus is the bringer of peace.

This is welcome news for those who struggle with anxiety and feel swallowed up by life's circumstances. It reminds us that we have a God, not of chaos but peace. Where is the storm in your life today? Where do the winds scare you? Invite Jesus into those situations and watch what the Prince of Peace can do.
