Bible Reading / 21 Prayers to Grow Closer to God

Day 1 | Search Me for Worry

Read:

You’re starting this journey with a bold prayer: “Search me, God.” These aren’t surface-level words. You’re inviting God to reveal what’s actually shaping you beneath the surface—the habits, patterns, and thought loops you may not even notice anymore. Growth begins when you slow down long enough to be honest about what’s really going on inside and allowing God to change your heart.

Today, start with inviting God to search your heart for worry. How does worry sneak into your life? By replaying conversations, trying to control outcomes, or living in a future that hasn’t happened yet?

Worry stacks tomorrow’s weight onto today’s responsibilities, and it drains you. Jesus knows life is hard, but he reminds you that you don’t have to carry more than today. When you ask God to search you for worry, you’re choosing to loosen your grip and trust him with what you can’t control.

Reflect: What are you carrying today that actually belongs to tomorrow?

Pray: God, search me and show me the worry I’ve been holding onto. I feel the weight of things that haven’t even happened yet, and I keep trying to manage what I can’t control. Help me release what isn’t mine to carry and trust you with today. You are present with me now, and you will be with me tomorrow. Amen.
