Bible Reading / 21 Prayers to Grow Closer to God

Day 2 | Search Me for Comparison

Read:

Comparison rarely comes out of nowhere. It slips in any time you notice a life that seems more successful, more peaceful, more put together than yours. One minute you’re innocently checking your social media feed, then next you’re measuring your entire life against someone else’s highlight reel.

Paul’s reminder in Galatians is simple: stay in your own lane. When your focus keeps drifting sideways, it’s hard to move forward with confidence.

Think about a runner in a race. If they keep checking other lanes, they lose focus and momentum. The same happens to us. Comparison pulls us out of our rhythm. It trades gratitude for anxiety and clarity for confusion. But when we fix our eyes on what’s right in front of us, we start to see just how faithful God has been right where we are. God has given you a path to run, and his work in your life won’t look exactly like anyone else’s.

Reflect: Where have you been looking sideways instead of staying focused on what’s in front of you?

Pray: God, search me and show me where comparison has taken root. I've measured my life against others and questioned whether I’m enough. Help me stay focused on the work you’ve given me and trust the pace you’ve set for my life. Teach me to celebrate others while remaining confident in what you’re doing in me. Amen.
